On the 250th anniversary of Joseph Freiherr von Hammer-Purgstall’s birth, Feldbach placed one of Europe’s great cultural bridge-builders in the spotlight. The Museum im Tabor presented his life as a diplomat, orientalist, translator, scholar and first president of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. For the Castle Road, this anniversary is especially fitting, as Hammer-Purgstall stands for cultural exchange between East and West.
